Saturday, August 05, 2017 Return to Marathon 2017 Main Page
Thank you for your interest in volunteering as part of the volunteer team during the 30th Annual St. Vincent’s SWIM Across the Sound Marathon scheduled for Saturday, August 05, 2017!
A fundraising event that started in 1987, the St. Vincent 's SWIM Across the Sound raised millions of dollars over the years, over $320,000 in 2016. All the funds raised benefit the SWIM’s 44 cancer services which provide cancer screening, education, prevention and support programs right here in our community as well as provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families in need.
Approximately 250 swimmers participate each year in the marathon. To ensure the event runs safely and smoothly volunteers are needed to help with the planning and execution of the Marathon. You will notice on the Volunteer Registration Form there are various assignments available that you may register for. Please be aware that many of these volunteer roles are on the water and require swimmer competency. Some of the on the water volunteer roles include SWIM observer on a relay team boat or solo boat.
SWIM Day begins at 5:30 a.m. at Captain’s Cove and ends at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the last swimmers arrive.
If you have friends that might be interested in helping us or learning more about the SWIM Marathon, please send them to the SWIM website at https://give.stvincents.org/marathon2017.
We sincerely appreciate your help in making the SWIM Marathon a safe and exciting event for everyone.
