St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound is There for Your Cancer Patients

The SWIM's mission is to:

  • Break down barriers to access for cancer screening and prevention programs
  • Provide education on minimizing risks for cancer
  • Provide assistance to cancer patients with services that traditional health insurance will not cover
  • Help individual cancer patients and their families on a case-by-case basis with specific needs so that patients can concentrate on feeling better and family members can concentrate on caring for their loved ones

Since 1987, St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound has provided cancer education, screening and prevention programs at low- or no-cost for the elderly and underserved. In addition, the SWIM helps individual cancer patients on a case-by-case basis with specific needs, such as the funding of wigs and prostheses, medication assistance, free transportation to treatments and appointments, day-care scholarships and support groups. The SWIM does not support research at this time.
